Cod Opener on the Aloha Spirit

Two-Banger Aloha Spirit Style

Hey Gang

Time to dust off your gear - RockCod Season just opened up this week. It's Duck Season! Rabbit Season! Duck Season! Rabbit Season! Duck Season! Rabbit Season! Rabbit Season! Duck Season! Rabbit Season! It's Duck Season?????? Check out the pictures of the Jay Maeda Cod Opener on the Aloha Spirit 3.3.09.

A couple of rods, reels full of spectra, Salas Lures, JaxJigs, Shrimp Flies, an OverSized Root Beer Mogambo Grub, 10 - 12 ounces of lead, and strips of squid was all you need for a day of fun.

Jay Maeda our Fearless CharterMaster - "This is how we roll...."

The butter weather made for a nice ride along the island chain. Breakfast burritos, a cup of joe, and some high octane comedy was on deck with a really good group of guys. Taking advantage of the good weather, the plan was to navigate along the Frontside of San Cruz Island to fish the areas that have not been hit up since the March 1st opener. The charter was made up of the usual suspects from the shop and some of real cool folks who work with Officer Maeda.

And the Weiner is...........

Chuckles, Whitefish, Treefish, and a few other species were caught by the group. A nice goat tipped the scale for the JackPot.

Thanks again to Shawn Steward and the Crew of the Aloha Spirit for a nice day out of the office. The offseason boatwork turned out real nice. I highly recommend the Spirit if you want to go fish the northern waters. Check out their Schedule and book a trip.

The name of the boat is a great description of their operation.
