First Time Out - 06/29/09
Check it out - Our Bud Captain Ray Lopez had a very successful trip on his first run behind the wheel of the American Angler. Thank you Bill Roecker for the On-The-Spot report on his website - Click the link below for the full story - -
“We had pretty steady action in the lee of the island,” Ray told dock reporter Bill Roecker at the landing scales. “We got near-limits of yellowtail. The most common rig was 40-pound line with the yoyo or the surface jig or a flylined sardine. The 7X jig was best in blue and white or scrambled eggs color.” Well Done Captain Lopez
I have known Ray for several years and want to toss him a Huge "High Five" on his maiden voyage. Awesome!!!!!

Channel Islands CBass on the AmberJack
We made a couple of moves and found a nice area to make a last drift for the day. Both Stoney and I get bit and we are stoked the hard work we put in for the day paid off.
Can you see the Cbass Helmut being lifted off my head? Thanks again G for a great day at the Island

Fishing was tough, wind prohibited us fishing the 4,5, and St Augustine’s on Saturday but North of town in the afternoon/early evening produced 30+ pound fish all three days.

I was out fished by the boys on the Champ!
The day started out slow but as the breeze picked up fishing did too. Tried a few spots for crappie for no luck. Once I rigged the boys up with dropshot robos they were getting bit frequently in 15 -20ft. They all caught their own fish unassisted and we had few tangles and snags. They were on their game! Josh was high stick with 7 bass ( to 1.25 lbs) and a trout. Dillon caught 4 bass with the day ending big fish off a point on main lake in the wind. The bass gave him a great fight, pulling drag on his new ugly stick with a 6# flouro carbon leader. We put the bass in the live well and admired for a few minutes then weighed, it settled at 2 pounds 10 ounce. What a beauty! The bass was released back on its point. Happy belated B-day Dillon!
These boys are the future of bass fishing - young bassmasters. Oh, and Uncle Tim did catch two bass and a few by the boat releases. My smile was as big as theirs when we drove away from the lake.
Thanks for the Great Report Tim - What a Party!

Hello Bob, I fished on the new 6 pac. boat Options out of Pierpoint Landing. We fished Catalina on the squid grounds kind of slow fishin but we caught 3 nice yellas. Fishin in the morning was a slow pick so I was fishin 15 # on my Phenix 866L a Bobs Sporting Goods custom rod of course and I hook a nice one. I took JP on that 25# yella. We all so caught alot of calico's too.
Options is a great 6 pac boat. 50 by 16 yacht, so lots of room. Tino from the boat Phantom does a great job putting us on the fish,
Thanks for the report Stew. Looks like good fishin....

What's Up guys,
I had an opportunity to fish the PCYC Grand Slam tournament with Dave Rich on his sweet 22' Davis 'Class Act' this past weekend. We blasted over to the west end of Cruz and then on to Rosa Fri. night looking for squid, scratched a few pieces, and fished our way back to the east end of Cruz over the next two days. We had to work at it but ended up with some quality fish . Dave really knows his shit at those islands.
Our top flatty, wsb and calico were enough to lock in the heaviest 'Grand Slam' and get us first place in the tourney. $$$!
Nice Job Greg. Four Years for Mr. Rich...That is pretty outstanding
Well Done
